Notes from the quarterly meeting

Here are a few additional notes from our quarterly meeting. By the way, if you haven't been keeping up with Kupperman's (he's the guy who created Snake and Bacon) TALES DESIGNED TO THRIZZLE, you're missing out on the best comic/cartoon book ever.

japan 2003

There are plenty of things to not like about moving, but one great thing is going through old boxes while unpacking and finding stuff you haven't seen in a few years. Here's a random photo from a trip to Japan in 2003. Wait, was it 2002?

PING PONG SHIRTS back in stock !

If you'd like to order, currently the easiest way is to email me here. I'll set up the shop again very soon! They are $20 and are printed on American Apparel shirts, so they are like Springsteen and are born in the USA.

New patterns and other stuff on FLICKR (and music stuff)

I find Flickr to be a much easier way to organize my portfolio into different sections. I'll make a permanent like soon, but for now check out my flickr sets here

Also, I recently got together with Matt Little and Josh Branham from Littlest Sounds (a recording co in TN) to record some new stuff. I'll keep you updated. Here's a polaroid from the studio:

Upcoming comic in Xeric grant funded anthology!

( cover illustration by Allegra Lockstadt)

A while back I was asked to contribute a comic to an upcoming anthology called Ghost Comics. Because of financial set backs, the anthology was put off, until a few weeks ago when it was awarded a Xeric grant. Looks like it will be coming out soon.

Spoiler: I did a verrrry short comic about two rabbits house hunting.

The other artists are:

Monica Anderson, Tuesday Bassen, Jeffrey Brown, Kevin Cannon, Allison Cole, Warren Craghead III, Will Hayes, Hob, John Hankiewicz, David Heatley, Toby Jones, Renny Kissling, Lucy Knisley, Mike Lowery, Sean Lynch, Jessica McLeod, Ed Choy Moorman, Sarah Morean, Corinne Mucha, Abby Mullen, John Porcellino, Zak Sally, Jillian Schroeder, Mark Scott, Eileen Shaughnessy, Jenny Tondera, Sarah Louise Wahrhaftig, and Jessica Williams.

Let's catch up, shall we?

I've been a little quiet on the blog front for the past week or so. Why, you ask? Well, I've been working non stop! Things have been hectic here, but that's good because it means people like my little drawings.

Here's a little sneak peek of one of the children's books I'm working on:

I'll tell you more about the books as soon as I can.

In the meantime, check out the site for the EXQUISITE BOOK. I'm actually up to bat right now, and need to have my final artwork turned in by April first. Be sure to look through the other artists' sites for some really great stuff.

I did take a short break last night to watch Amelie with the family. It had been a few years since I'd seen it, and I had honestly forgotten how good that movie is. It happened to be the first full-length movie (cartoon or otherwise) that Allister had ever sat all the way through. I know what you're thinking if you've seen the movie, and yes we did cover her eyes during some of the more adult sequences. Not really. Speaking of Allister...here's a recent photo that our photographer friend, William, took:

Also, one more thing. I'm about to start adding new prints to my ETSY shop. If there are any images that you've really liked in the past and you'd like to see them as prints, please let me know!

Charlie Harper's Studio

Charlie Harper is definitely one of my favorite illustrators, so I was excited to find these images of his studio space this morning here. Look how cluttered his workspace is!

Also: if you happened to be one of the dozens of folks who emailed me to let me know that my front page was acting wacky, thanks! It's back up and working great now thanks to Ty, Jeff, and William.
