Grilling out

Tonight we had some friends over and grilled some veggies and curry
chicken. Allister liked the angel food cake and whipped cream best,
though.

here's us all looking a little tired:

my flip flops are dead, long live my flip flops

It had to happen eventually.  After eight years of faithful service, my flip flops have been replaced.  Why such a big deal?  These were purchased on mine and Rachel's honeymoon and I've worn them ever since.  Well, not during the winter.  Or the fall.  Or spring, really.  Forget about it.

charleston, SC. 2008 (part one)

Here are some pics from our lovely Charleston, SC trip.  The "good" photos were taken with Rachel's camera, so I'll let her upload those and post them as part two.

moving to atlanta, part one

As most of you by now have heard, the Lowery family is packing up and moving to Atlanta. I start working at the Savannah College of Art and Design (the atlanta campus, of course) September 12th, so we went down to our new home town this weekend to find an apartment.

The trip down wasn't too bad because we decided to split it up into two days by stopping in Charlotte, NC to see Katie Hart. Here's Allister doing some light reading on the way down:

taking a break from the car seat:

We had an appointment to meet up with some folks from Promove (a company that helps folks find apartments), but we had to go late because we needed some Steak and Shake first. Steak and Steak is a southern chain that we don't have here in the DC area that is basically sit down fast food. I think Allister is a fan:

While in Promove, I had to run across the street in the pouring rain to buy diapers and wipes. When I came back into the office one of the employees asked me if I had seen Raising Arizona.

We ended up signing on an incredibly inexpensive place in a great part of town (near Emory University). It will actually be mine and Rachel's first time renting, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that this will be a good community.

to be continued...
